GTM Engineer

Serval Software Development
Onsite San Francisco, CA Posted 7 days ago

TL;DR

Serval's taking a swing at ServiceNow with AI agents that fix IT headaches—and they need someone to build the commercial engine that feeds those agents real deals and real urgency.

Your job: architect the plumbing from zero. Lead routing, pipeline tracking, account plays, post‑sale workflows—all wired together so Sales and Marketing stop fumbling and start flowing.

Daily rhythm: embed with GTM teams, spot friction, sketch automations (code, no‑code, AI—whatever works), ship it, measure the dent in pipeline, repeat.

Who fits: 4+ years building GTM systems at B2B SaaS shops, fluent in Salesforce/HubSpot/Clay/Outreach, comfortable with SQL or Python, and equally at home debating sales strategy as you are debugging an API.

Why now: first GTM Engineer at a well‑funded startup swinging at a $230B incumbent—you'll own the foundation that scales from scrappy to serious.

Job Description

Who We Are

At Serval, we’re building the AI platform for IT teams. Our goal is to take on legacy players like ServiceNow, a $230+ bn company, by deploying AI agents to resolve IT issues instead of humans.

Serval “automates the automation,” using a natural language-to-code workflow builder and AI agents that discover and deliver automations for tedious IT workflows.

Our mission is to free IT departments from the #helpdesk channel by creating the simplest way to automate employee onboarding/offboarding, software access management, and the long tail of employee requests. Long term, our vision extends to developing a universal workflow automation platform for all business functions.

Serval was founded by product and engineering leaders from Verkada and is backed by industry-leading investors like First Round, General Catalyst, Alt Capital, and Box Group.

Role Overview

As our first GTM Engineer, you’ll design, build, and own the systems that drive commercial momentum from the ground up. There’s no playbook yet. No stack. You’ll work hand-in-hand with Sales & Marketing to identify the biggest growth levers, turn them into scalable workflows, and ship solutions (including ABM plays) that accelerate revenue.

You’ll need to be both commercially savvy and technically fluent, equally comfortable building in code, no-code, and AI tools as you are debating outbound strategy with a sales leader. The right person for this role is deeply curious, thrives in ambiguity, and moves fast while thinking two steps ahead.

What You’ll Do

Build GTM Infrastructure from Scratch. Stand up the foundational systems for lead management, pipeline tracking, account engagement, and post-sale workflows. Design & Automate Revenue Workflows. Create AI-native automations that surface next-best actions, trigger timely outreach, and connect the dots across data sources so GTM teams can move faster. Integrate & Evolve the GTM Stack. Select, implement, and connect our sales, marketing, and success tools into one cohesive ecosystem. Then, continuously refine it as we scale. Partner with GTM Teams Hourly. Embed with Sales & Marketing to translate business challenges into technical solutions, spot opportunities, and ship improvements. Own Projects End-to-End. From scoping to design to launch, take projects from idea to execution including measuring impact, iterating, and ensuring adoption across teams. Drive Data-Driven Decisions. Build the reporting and insights layer that makes performance visible, actionable, and aligned with company goals.

What You’ll Need

4+ years in GTM systems for B2B SaaS in revenue operations, sales engineering, or growth engineering. Experience building GTM workflows and integrations from scratch, not just maintaining existing systems. Fluency in GTM tools (Clay, Salesforce/Attio, HubSpot / Marketo, Outreach / Apollo, Demandbase / 6sense, etc.), APIs, and automation platforms (Zapier, Workato). Ability to query and manipulate data (SQL, Python, JavaScript a plus). Commercial orientation. You understand sales and marketing motions and can tie technical work to revenue outcomes. Comfortable navigating ambiguity. You naturally spot opportunities and move quickly without losing quality. Strong communicator, able to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders. Track record of driving measurable pipeline and revenue impact through systems design.

Bonus Points

Familiarity with AI-enabled GTM tools and personalization techniques. Experience in an early-stage startup environment.

What we offer

Impact: You’ll define and own the GTM systems foundation for a category-defining company. Scope: Shape how Sales & Marketing operate for years to come. Culture: A high-performance, collaborative environment where speed and quality go hand-in-hand. Compensation: Competitive salary, equity, and benefits.
